Living Fossil
When sudden rains filled a dry lake bed, thousands of small
swimming animals appeared. They resembled Trilobites.
They were identified as Tadpole Shrimp=Apus longicaudatus Le Corte.
The genus dates back to the Triassic time.
The eggs from the Tadpole Shrimp can survive long periods without water,
also many temperature changes and still hatch as soon as rains
produce a lake. They are only found in the Western States.
This is a packet of eggs. Pour half of bag into a
glass jar or small aquarium. They will hatch out in
36 to 48 hours. Instructions included
